Marshelle
(Shelly) Stout had an early beginning in animal husbandry at the tender
age of 6 in Bloomfield Michigan. Starting with her Equestrian
career where she discovered her competitive nature. Her parents
then gifted her with her first German Shepherd Dog which opened a door
to the world of Dog Competition and training her then, and now passion.
Shelly's life developed into a colorful training career blossoming from
western horse eventing to training harness race horses with 4-H and dog
shows in between.
For a little
more spice Shelly accepted an apprenticeship training exotic animals
ranging from Kodiak Grizzlies to Siberian Tigers.
As life moved forward Shelly was found in the glorious mountains
of Colorado. Wrangling on a ranch of 100 head of horses and
a team of mules.
Shelly's personal life moved her back to Michigan where she
invested in her first imported German Shepherd. She then discovered the
sport of Schutzhund. This gave her an entire new world to explore in
animal behavior and training. Spending the next decade competing and
attending countless training seminars.
Something was missing.
At this time Shelly began researching the smaller companion breeds.
After exploring a few she began involvement with therapy dog training.
Two Lhasa Apsos she bred and trained were donated to work with
teachers of educationally challenged children. Her loyalty to her
German Shepherds continued. Her conservative breeding program
produced a puppy (Luger vom Stout) so exceptional that she decided to
donate him to service work. Luger today is a Search And
Rescue Dog in Ohio.
Finally,
Shelly heard of a very exciting Toy Spaniel. After
attending dog shows and visiting with Cavalier breeders at ringside she
directed her search overseas. To her good fortune Sorata Kennels
sold her a tri color named Sorata Obsession (Calvin). This good
fortune was then topped by breeding Calvin to Rattlebridge Masterpiece
(Rubens) one of the finest Cavaliers in the USA to this day.
The puppies were Best in Show CH. Marshelle Rattlbridg Renoir (Pierre)
and Marshelle Show me the Monet CD NAJ OA TDI (Monet). Because Pierre
needed financial backing, Shelly allowed Rattlbridg to add their prefix
to Marshelle. In turn they coordinated his soon to be incredible
career. Reaching #1 in the country and winning the National Specialty.
Monet went to work earning obedience and agility titles and of course,
her therapy certification. Monet also produced Marshelle Rattlbridg
TGIF CDX (Easter) one of a handful of cavaliers in the USA
with an advanced obedience title. All of Easters training was
supervised by Shelly. The student learned quickly under Shelly's
watchful eye and had wonderful success. Shelly continues to accept new
students with the desire to learn and compete.
Today
Shelly commits herself to a responsible breeding program of only
dogs that have been health tested by Cardiologist, Ophthalmologists and
hips certified by OFA (Orthopedic Foundation For Animals). With
Shelly's expert background in training and behavior, nothing is kept in
her program that doesn't pass the highest of standards of temperament
and quality.
Shelly continues doing extensive health research with some of the most respected specialists in the world.
